 Bill to End Fox Hunting - bringing a Ban on Angling
  This is now going through the committee stages, and seems to be going as planned, leading to a fom of licensing which will ban all hunting. The Ban on Angling and the Ban on Shooting will follow.
Brought forwards to appear as if hunting might be allowed to continue through licensing and to appear 'even handed', the Bill is now changing shape in the Parliamentary Committee stage under the watchful eye of Alun Michaels MP. It already amounts to an end to Hunting and will, whether called it or not, be a complete Ban on Hunting.

Clever amendments, which will ensure that hunting will end through never being able to be licensed, are coming forwards and being supported by Alun Michael.

Some MPs, aware that the hunting bill will lead to an angling ban, tried to get the Tests kicked out of the bill. But Alun Michael came to the rescue and the tests have been amended by being toughened up!

The Tests are Utility, Cruelty and Least Suffering and they will lead into the angling ban soon after the Hunting Bill becomes law.

Utility - does an animal need to have its numbers controlled or need to be killed for food? The answer for Fish is No. Numbers don't need to be controlled and remember coarse fisherman aren't controlling numbers, just tormenting and hurting fish for their own sadistic fun.

Cruelty - If there is a Need under the Utility Test - and Angling can't pass this test! - does what is done cause cruelty. Yes, as hypocritical Government Angling Spokesman Martin Salter MP admits - the fact of fish feeling pain will lead to an angling ban (see Salter news article). As numerous studies prove - Fish Feel Pain like any other animal - and angling is cruel. The RSPCA confirm this to be the case.

Least Suffering. Angling completely fails this - even if there was a proven need under the Utility Test - the painless way of controlling numbers is by stunning fish using the electro fishing preferred by the Environment Agency to catch them and then giving them a painless death. But it is Not Needed.

Toughening up the Tests (all thanks to Alun Michael MP) has left no doubt that Angling has to, and will be banned next. The only thing which can now halt the progress to the long awaited Ban on Angling is if the Hunting Bill is thrown out by Parliament.
